Business Owners must realize that most webmasters are simply graphic artists that specialize in web design. Most graphic artists do not specialize in business promotion and sales other than promoting their own work, which is good for them but not good for the business owner. Nobody knows your business better than yourself and relying on a graphic artist to handle your marketing and promotions over the internet is a big business mistake. Having an employee or manager of your business run your website can also be a big mistake. Your employee will gain leverage on you especially when negotiating their salary or just simply their continued employment against your better judgement. All Business owners must understand that their website is an extension of their business and must be run like one. No matter the size or content of your website, it is a part of your business that you must oversee and be hands on if possible to prevent abuse and neglect. Once a website is created you must pay your webmaster to maintain it and manage it. That is the job of a webmaster. Promotions, Marketing, and Sales are not included and should not be entrusted to your webmaster because for the most part they have no experience and very little knowledge of these business skills especially over the internet.
